Housing Service

Permanent Accommodation

The GCECC comprises of 357 permanent housing beds on two sites. It greets people with loss of autonomy necessitating more than 3 hours of care per day. Contact the CSSS of your neighbourhood who will inform you of modalities and costs related to long term care housing.
Admission to a long term care facility in Montreal is coordinated by the Agence régionale de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal. Most of the time, social workers are involved in the admission process and can support you through it.

At his arrival at the centre, the future resident or his representative must present himself to Admission Services and provide the follow documents and information:

  • Quebec Medicare card
  • Any hospital card in his possession
  • Power of attorney, approved mandate or the curatorship judgment, if applicable

We will also ask the resident to sign admission and consent to treatment forms.

Choice of Room

In each installation, single to quadruple occupancy rooms are available. At the arrival of a resident, we assign a bed according to room availability. Room rates are fixed according to the type of room occupied.

Telephone and Cable

Telephone and cable television services, and their installation, are at the expense of the resident.

 Temporary Housing

The GDECC counts one 15 bed unit able to receive people from the community experiencing loss of autonomy, in order to offer respite to the caregivers or a convalescence following hospitalization. The eligible people are entitled to a maximum stay of eight weeks per year. The people in temporary housing receive care and services adapted to their individual needs.

To learn more on this service, contact your neighbourhood CSSS who will inform you of your modalities of access and related costs of temporary housing.

Clothing and Necessary Items

We suggest to bring only clothing that is comfortable and easy to maintain. Washable and iron free clothing are particularly indicated since the Centre offers washing and clothing care services for the residents’ basic personal clothing. Each piece of clothing must be dutifully identified to the resident’s name. The establishment cannot be held responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items and clothing.
