Council and committees

Board of Directors

On October 1, 2015, the Minister of Health and Social Services, Gaétan Barrette, and the Minister for Rehabilitation, Youth Protection and Public Health, Lucie Charlebois, announced the appointment of independent members and representatives of affiliated universities to sit on the Boards of Directors of Montreal region health and social service institutions, in accordance with the Act to modify the organization and governance of the health and social services network, in particular by abolishing the regional agencies.

Users Committee

In accordance to legislation of Quebec Health and Social Services, the GDECC has a Users Committee responsible to watch over the interests of the residents.

The Committee informs users of their rights and obligations, evaluates the satisfaction of residents regarding services received and, on demand, plays a role of representation and accompaniment of the users in their dealings with the administration.


Service Quality and Complaints Commissioner

As part of the integration of various facilities and services at the Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre, information regarding the Service Quality and Complaints Commissioner can now be found on the new MWI IUHSSC website.


Council of physicians, dentists and pharmacists

The Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists is responsible for controlling and evaluating the quality of medical, dental and pharmaceutical acts posed in the Centre and to maintain the competency of physicians, dentists and pharmacists to ensure the quality of services.


Council of Nurses

The Council of Nurses is responsible towards the Board of Directors:

  • To appreciate, in a general manner, the quality of nursing acts posed in the Centre;
  • To make recommendations on the rules of nursing applicable to their members at the Centre;
  • To make recommendations on the appropriate distribution of dispensed nursing care.


Interdisciplinary Council

The Interdisciplinary Council is responsible towards the Board of Directors:

  • To constitute, each time it is required, the peer committees necessary to the appreciation and improvement of the quality of their members' professional practice;
  • To make recommendations on the appropriate distribution of care and services dispensed by their members to ensure quality services.
